Clubs and Activities
The Lower School meets for Buddies regularly, and once a month meets for clubs. Favorite clubs include Knitting, Lego, Math Club, Chess, and “Tinkering,” which involves making new and useful objects out of recycled materials. Lower School students also have a variety of After School Enrichment Programs to choose from – everything from Robotics to Karate to jewelry making.
There are so many great extra-curricular opportunities for Middle School students to get involved in, depending on interest. Middle School hosts its own Student Government, made up of elected representatives from each grade, plus Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, and President (8th Graders only). The MS Student Government plans community service events and social activities for the division, including at least one dance. Fridays, the last period of the day is devoted to clubs. Every six weeks, MS students propose and vote on a new selection of student-led clubs. Each fall, students have the opportunity to audition for and act in the after school middle school play (in 2018-2019, we have an original version of Adaptation of the Tempest). Middle School students are also eligible to join our interscholastic teams in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.
There are many avenues for Upper School students to get involved (7-12) in extra-curricular activities. The Upper School boasts an active Student Government. Our literary journal The Battering Ram receives submissions from around the country. M.O.A.S (Model Organization of American States) competes annually in Washington, DC., Students in 5th – 12th Grades participate in our annual school musical, open to the community.
Upper School also meets regularly for student-led clubs which include a Social Action Club, a Gay Straight Alliance, Gaming, Engineering, Knitting, and many others. Friday nights in January and February, our Ski Club meets for night skiing at Windham. Upper School athletes can compete on our Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Ultimate Frisbee teams.
