Afterschool Enrichment

WDS Afterschool Enrichment features a wide range of options for kids and adults of all ages and interests. With a staff culled from the worlds of art, literature, naturalism, athletics, science, and several physical disciplines, our ASE programs offer excellent opportunities for students to learn, grow, strengthen, and have fun!

To be admitted to class(es), tuition must be paid in full at time of registration via e-check only. 

Classes may be dropped after the first scheduled class, with full refund. Tuition is not refundable after second class.

Woodstock Day School Afterschool Enrichment Code of Conduct Right of Refusal:
The Woodstock Day School Afterschool Enrichment Program reserves the right to refuse any registration and to cancel any child’s class registration for disruptive or inappropriate behavior, without refund.
If a child is disruptive in an ASE class, the child will be removed to the Aftercare Program.  The parent(s) will be notified to pick up child immediately and Aftercare fees will be applied.

The ancient game of chess has entertained and sharpened minds for well over 1,000 years. And the application of its tactics and strategies can be found in real life as well! Many chess masters started and advanced quickly at a young age. Perhaps we have a budding Bobby Fischer in our midst?! Let’s find out!

Beginners can learn piece moves, opening and mating basics, and intermediate and advanced players can practice the intricacies of tactical motifs, opening repertoire and endgame. Gameplay at every session! No experience necessary.

SUSTAINABLE SEWING GRADES 3-6

Students will learn the basics of sewing, from hand to machine work, embroidery and mending, using the principles of zero waste design. They will use these skills to design and create new items made from salvaged and upcycled fabrics and trimmings.

Develop physical awareness and mindfulness through traditional archery. The program follows a consistent structure that allows for both intensive study of archery form and function, as well as dynamic games, visual arts integration and fun that can only be had with a bow in your hand. Program runs both indoors and outdoors, rain or shine.

Equipment is provided.

BREATH, STRETCH AND ROAR!

Join Leah and Toni for Yoga and Mindfulness for kids.  Using music, breathing exercises and yoga poses we will work our minds and bodies creating warmth and energy as well as calm and focus.  Our little yogis will fly like butterflies, roar like dragons, go on imaginary adventures and more as they experience the playfulness and challenges of yoga. Children will do balancing poses to help us explore focus and perseverance and guided meditations to help us strengthen our imagination and comprehension.

 

CEILI DANCING FOR KIDS

A Ceili is a traditional Irish group dance which is danced to reels or jigs. No prior dance experience is necessary.  Just come ready to have fun and learn something new!

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS

Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role playing game in which players create characters and tell an ongoing story together as they embark on great adventures. We will meet once a week and play through the entirety of one Dungeons and Dragons Campaign, after the participants create their heroes and adventurers. We will be using the 5th Edition rule set. Dice, pencils and equipment will be provided. Participants are welcomed to bring their own dice and equipment if they so choose.

An opportunity for girls & boys age 5-8 to connect with their inner fairy or elf! Join Julie in fairy/nature-inspired activities and crafts such as enchanted woodland strolls, fairy house making, creative movement, and imaginative play – all in the spirit of the joy and magic of childhood.

CERAMICS FOR ADULTS

This is an adult class for ages 16 and above
$150+$25 material fee
Drop in rate of $35 per class, includes material fee.

This class is for all ability levels from novice to more expert. Hand building and throwing will be taught along with glazing techniques.
