About WDS

Students, parents, and faculty walking to class

Woodstock Day School is an independent place of learning for students from nursery through high school. Our teachers, administrators, students, and parents are called to participate fully in the many facets of our small, socially responsible community. We value the unique background and talents of each member of our school family, and support our students in their pursuit of academic, social, and creative success. Together, our goal is to prepare each student for meaningful participation in a complex world.

Mission

Our mission is to inspire academic, social, and creative success. To prepare students for meaningful participation in a complex world, we embrace the following goals and values: We unite social, academic and artistic exploration with physical challenge, play and experiential learning. We teach critical thinking and encourage reflection and dialogue about complex issues. We develop curricula and programs that embrace the different ways students learn. We offer an active community life by engaging the diverse backgrounds, strengths, and interests of students, teachers, and families. We honor the natural world and use its resources with care. We emphasize social responsibility, instilling citizenship through service and collaborative projects within the school and wider communities. We teach students the social skills they need to live and work in a group. We value the feelings and opinions of each student.

Our history

Woodstock Day School became a part of the community over 35 years ago when it began as a small preschool in the village of Woodstock. In its 35+ year history, Woodstock Day School has educated and enriched the lives of generations of young people and has grown to include Nursery School through 12th Grade with a current enrollment of over 175 students. Committed to unlocking the full potential in each child, with hands-on individual guidance, we firmly believe there is no such thing as an average student.
