An appeal from Pam Lord Camara, Director of WDS Summer Adventure:
Last summer as I led the first Friday All Camp Gathering of 2011, a longtime dream spilled forth from my lips. As I reveled in, and reflected on, all the magic and growth that occurs ‘under the tent’ every summer, I was spontaneously moved to say out loud something I had been thinking about for a while. The amazing sharing/performing of dance or drum or theater followed by the traditional closing with Appreciations and Apologies in Tribes style, has filled many a heart through the years of these Friday gatherings.
My dream: a permanent roof over the stage and seats to replace our aging tent. My dedicated staff ran with this idea and we were able to organize a few fundraisers through the summer. Several generous families also gave to the seed of this dream.
Then along came Irene on August 28th and knocked that tent right over, ripping it to the point of non-repair as it fell. Now that dream needs to become a reality.
Please consider giving to our fund to construct a new roof over the stage. No amount is too small or too large! Our goal is $50,000. In the future, you will be able to do this directly online. In the meantime, please call the Summer office at 246-3744 X120 to speak with Debbie about your gift. THANK YOU!
