In May, the 10th/11th grade United States History class traveled to Germantown with Rebecca and Matthew to visit Bard’s archeological dig. The German Palatines settled in the Hudson Valley in the 1700s, and Bard has been excavating their Parsonage for 3 years in an effort to reclaim German heritage of the area. Students had a chance to tour the museum with Bard’s Professor of Archeology Christopher Linden, and get their hands dirty at the dig itself. They had a wonderful time on a gorgeous day, and found pieces of dishes, a door handle, bone from table scraps, nails and notable blue pottery.
